Appendix F:

Characters can be referenced by number or by changing the font and using a standard alphanumeric key. The alphanumeric key that one types is the furthest left column in each image. The font is indicated in the horizontal row across the top of each image. The numbers in parentheses are used to figure out the code.

Examples:

• "PRL" is "principal Roman lower (case)" which also has numbers between 101 - 157 inclusive except there are no 8's or 9's. So, typing a * symbol while in PRL plots a partial derivative symbol. To get to the PRL font, try :PRL:

• Alternatively, typing :147: while in any font does the same thing. Note: PRL is the default.

  Here are some example calls to plot symbols:

  
  
  • Example 1: (useful for writing things that change value)

  • Example 2: (most compact for a given character string)

    This example plots the Greek letter zeta plus capital Z₁ equals the thunderstorm symbol.

Notes:

• The default font is PRU (Principal Roman Upper)
  
• :S: means start writing superscripts.
  
• :B: means start writing subscripts.
  
• :N: means start writing at the normal level again.
  
• The default delimiter for a function code is the colon (This was used in the examples.)
  To change the delimiter, change FC. This example sets it to the forward slash:
