I am a biometeorologist which basically means that I study the exchange of mass (CO2 and H2O vapor) and energy between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere. My research is focused on the role that forests play in the global carbon, water and energy cycles and how disturbance and climate variability impacts this land-atmospheric exchange over varying temporal and spatial scales.

I split my time amongst the towering forests of the Pacific Northwest and the vibrant Bay Area, California. And now call the West Coast home, although I grew up in Texas. For fun, I like to explore new places, wander around strange cities, hike to hidden waterfalls, get around by bike whenever possible and walk to neighborhood coffee shops.
